What Belongs in an AlimTalk Message?
AlimTalk is for essential order, booking, payment, and delivery updates. Keep coupons and promotions in a separate, consent-based marketing message.
AlimTalk is for updates customers need during a transaction: an order confirmation, a booking, or a delivery notice. Add a coupon or a come-back offer, and the message starts to mix service with advertising.
Kakao says AlimTalk can reach people who have not added your channel, but the message must be informational and follow an approved template. The Kakao AlimTalk guide explains the requirements.
Send promotions separately
“Enjoy a free drink next time,” “Add our channel for a coupon,” and “20% off this week” are promotions, not transaction updates. Keep them out of the AlimTalk copy and its variable fields. Advertising messages require the appropriate prior consent, ad label, sender details, and opt-out information. See Article 50 of Korea’s Information and Communications Network Act.
To use AlimTalk, Kakao requires a Business Channel, a public channel home, and customer-service contact details. Messages are sent through the Biz Message API and an official Kakao partner. Keep the copy within the approved template and use only details needed for the transaction, such as an order number or appointment time.
For example: a café booking
“Your booking is confirmed for [date] at [time] for [number of guests]. Please contact us during business hours if you need to make a change.” The final wording and variables must follow the approved template.
Keep the booking message focused on the booking. Send the coupon or discount separately to customers who have consented to receive marketing messages.
