When Revisions and Deliverables Are Missing

The assumption cell is filled. The revision cell says “enough.” The deliverable cell says “website production.” The total sits on those two words. The owner still cannot draw the scene of the ending.

The last piece said scope and assumptions are the floor of the amount. Even with a floor, review does not open if it is unwritten what gets revised how many times, and what arrives in the hand. People who hire well do not leave that empty cell as decoration on the sentence. An empty cell becomes an unnamed change later.

Enough revisions is not a unit of review

“Website production” and “enough revisions” speak a direction. A direction cannot split pass from return. How many screens are made, and what counts as one round, have to exist before the last scene is visible. Without a scene, each side sees a different ending.

“Two rounds” is the same family as enough, if it has no object. Two proof rounds, and typos inside the review window, are different clocks. Build defects and a new feature differ further. Mix them into one number, and the second mail changes the scope. The changed scope does not ride a change request. It passes hidden inside the count.

People who hire well attach an object in front of the count. “Two rounds on the first screen. Typos inside seven days of review. A new screen is outside the count.” Those three lines turn enough into a unit. With a unit, an added request gets a name. With a name, it is a change. Without a name, it is a feeling.

The same thing happens if there is a count and no definition of one round. Is one round the whole screen, or the bundle of items that were pointed at. Without a definition, the vendor counts bundles and we count every sentence. Two ways of counting make different weeks out of the same quote.

A deliverable has to be countable before it can be received

If the deliverable list says “brand site,” the folder of the receiving day cannot be imagined. Home, about, list, detail, contact. Countable like that, review has names. With names, a missing screen is visible. A visible absence can be asked as an extra or as an omission.

Files have to be countable too. Web images, source that can still be edited, accounts and access, an operating note. Tie the four into one word, and on open day only the screen comes over. If only the screen comes over, acceptance closes halfway. An acceptance closed halfway holds the files in the payment cell of the next piece.

People who hire well write the list under the same names on the quote and on the acceptance list. Two names mean two kinds of done. Two kinds of done later call two finals. Only one list has to close for one scene to end.

With a list, extras get quieter too. “I thought that screen was included” sits outside the list. Outside, it is a new line. A new line is a change with words. Without a list, that sentence walks into the original website. The sentence that walked in is disputed, and it is not written as a change.

Name the owner of the empty cell

A missing item is not immediately a fault. It can be a seat not decided yet. “Is this cell still undecided.” Write who decides and when, and the empty cell becomes a question. If the question has an owner, the next conversation gets shorter.

Without an owner, the empty cell becomes a hope on both sides. We hope the source is included. The vendor hopes web files are enough. The two hopes meet in the open week. The place they meet is not review. It is a dispute.

People who hire well do not cover an empty cell with the total. A covered empty cell is not evidence of a cheaper job. It is evidence that there is no ending scene. A total with no scene returns to the price list the last piece named.

If the moment of deciding only repeats “at contract time,” that cell is still in the meeting. A contract does not fill the quote’s empty cells by itself. An unfilled cell easily remains in the contract as mutual discussion. Mutual discussion is the politer name of an empty cell.

A total with no ending scene

The assumptions are on page one now. Still, the folder to open on review day cannot be drawn. Whether enough is how many proofs, which screens the website is, whether the source is in that folder. Without the three, Friday can arrive and nobody knows if it is the end. If the end is unknown, the final-payment cell looks at the calendar. The calendar does not know files.

People who hire well write the receiving day’s list beside the total. Five screens, a source folder, the account owner, typos inside seven days of review, a new screen outside. This list has to carry the same names on the quote and later in the acceptance mail. Different names mean two endings on Friday. Both endings say they are the contract.

Writing the owner of an empty cell as Wednesday is also a list. “Source format, Kim, Thursday.” An empty cell with an owner is a question. An empty cell with no owner is a hope. Two hopes meet in the open week. The sentences that meet are “that was always included” and “that is an extra.” They point at the same line, and there is no change request. There was no request.

So if the next page is entered without filling the list, the payment terms use that empty seat as collateral. “Source after the final.” Because the source was not on the list, it can become a hostage of the final and the document stays quiet. A quiet document is an unnamed change. An unnamed change does not only push the week. It erases the event of done itself.

Two sentences pointing at the same line

The day before open, the booking cell is missing. We say it was included in the website. The vendor says it was not on the list. If the list is only “website production,” both sides read that word. If one word opens into two scopes, the conversation of the day before is not a change request. A request opens when there is a name. Without a name, the conversation becomes character.

People who hire well put screen names on the quote so that day before does not get created. If there is no booking cell, write that there is none. A line written as absent can become an extra later and still have words. An extra with words can sit schedule and cost beside it. An extra without words sits beside the final. A file that sits beside the final is not a condition of done. It is collateral.

The revision count makes the same day before. See a screen whose direction differs for the first time the day before open, and there is not even a definition of whether a round remains. A count with no definition becomes a story of who yields. A story of yielding is not a map. The map is two proof rounds, seven days of typos, a new screen outside. Without those three lines, the missing line is already alive as an unnamed change.

A missing line becomes an unnamed change

A revision count and a deliverable list are not decoration that makes a document stiff. They are a small map of what gets made and how far it gets fixed, looked at together. A line missing from the map is quiet. A quiet line becomes someone’s obvious as the work proceeds.

If there are two obviouses, one side’s obvious is the other side’s change. There is no change request, though. There was no request. An unnamed change suddenly becomes character at review. “That was always the case” and “that is an extra” point at the same line.

People who hire well fill that line before the signature. If it cannot be filled, they write an owner and a date. Leave an ownerless empty cell as it is, and the payment terms of the next page use that empty cell as collateral. The file gets tied to a date. A file tied to a date is not done. It is a hostage.

So a missing line becomes an unnamed change. An unnamed change does not only push the schedule. It erases the event of payment too. The next piece looks at that erased event. When the final lives only on the calendar, where the files remain.
